Meet John McQueeney

Business Leader | Family Man | Neighbor

John McQueeney brings to the Texas House a perspective shaped by years of building a family, a career, and a community presence in Fort Worth. His background as a business owner, volunteer, and parent informs a steady, practical approach to public service and a clear understanding of the people he represents. First elected in 2024, Rep. John McQueeney serves House District 97, which includes Fort Worth, Benbrook, White Settlement, Crowley, and portions of southwest Tarrant County.

In the Texas House, John serves on several key committees that play a central role in shaping the future of the state, including the Committees on State Affairs, Licensing & Administrative Procedures, the Subcommittee on Telecommunications & Broadband, and the Select Committee on General Aviation. John’s work centers on strengthening public safety, keeping Fort Worth affordable and livable, improving infrastructure, and ensuring Texas remains the best place to raise a family for generations to come.

A proud graduate of Texas Christian University’s M.J. Neeley School of Business, John went on to build a diverse career across corporate development, franchising, and logistics. Over the years, he has overseen national operations, owned and operated local businesses, and grown a regional logistics fleet that supported dozens of North Texas families. His portfolio has included operating McDonald’s franchises, growing a FedEx contracting and logistics operation into a 50-truck fleet, and owning Chicken Express restaurants. Those experiences give him a direct understanding of what families and local employers deal with every day in House District 97 — from the cost of doing business to the cost of putting a roof over your head.

John remains connected to the community through service on university and civic boards, including his ongoing involvement with TCU and his position as an advisory director at Austin County State Bank. These roles allow him to stay engaged with the issues shaping Fort Worth’s future, from education and economic development to responsible growth and financial leadership.

John and his wife, Katie, have been married for nearly two decades. Together, they’re raising their two children — Jack, now a Longhorn at the University of Texas at Austin, and Sheridan, who attends All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth. Their days are often filled with school events, practices, and the kind of joyful chaos every parent knows well. The McQueeneys are active at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and when he is not at the Capitol, John is usually cheering on TCU football, traveling, or spending time with family and friends.

At his core, John is a husband, father, and neighbor who believes in showing up, following through, and treating people with respect. His motivation is simple: protect the community he calls home, uphold conservative values, and keep Texas strong, safe, and prosperous for generations to come.
